We do a similar thing on Stone Island, just inside Poole Harbour. But without the sunshine!

Only a small affair. If weather's good, a small bar is set up and RMYC members nip across for a little get together. Happens about 2 or 3 times a year with very low spring tides.

It's a public place but quite close to the RM. See you soon, have a nice Xmas.

Paul, we should definetley try and find somewhere and set a date in the summer to do this sort of thing. i would be well up for it, i guess a few others would be too. There does not seem to be any poker runs any more so this is the next best thing in my opinion. What do you think ?

Always up for it mate. It is a shame about poker runs but its because of all the people that say yes have no intention of turning up. just bravado.

Im sure we will all get together just not in an organised event as its not worth the hassle.

How about we set 2 dates and a venue now to meet up, that way pepole will get plenty of notice to plan. The 2 dates would be 2 weeks apart, that way if the weather is crap for the first week we have the second one to fall back on. If the weather is fine for the first date then theres no need to do the second. This just a thought as these things always get left to the last minute and never go ahead. Rob

I agree, I'd love to get involved. I take my boat out a fair bit on my own but it's never the same as hooking up with others.

A while back I suggested trying to form some way of letting people know you're out but I think I got 2 takers.

If I had dates in the diary for poker runs I'd do my very best to get there.

Maybe set them/get togethers for first sat of each month throughout the season. Then everyone knows its there, if they can make it then great, if not, hopefully they make the next one.

I defo think we should stop talking and start acting as it seems there are enough of us around to make these days fun enough.

Chris.

Ps. There was talk of a possee heading to guernsey in convoy a while back. Is that impossible to organise??? I'm sure there'd be a good group ready to welcome us in also for a night of boozing?!?!

Im up for it for sure. Our only enemy is the weather. i didnt mean to seem negative but go back through the old poker run threads and pic and you will see what i mean. look at the thread to see all the people that say yes then look at the actual turn out. the last poker from drivers was canned because only 7-8 people confirmed. and that had months of notice.

all we can do is hope for next year.

Just throw it out there mate and see who takes you up on it. nothing needs organising. book births and hotels. meet up somewhere and off you go.

you will get lots of yes's on it.

social days are good to do and as racing is so pants now its the other option in my mind.

If you come over I'd be up for coming up to Alderney to meet you then cane it back here via Herm for a booze up! Like you say though weather is the enemy, wouldn't wanna run 80 miles in a small boat in some of the shite we get here...
