A fabulous day out

Took a little trip Sunday up to the very top of the Chesapeake Bay thanks to the invitation of a fellow I met through a US powerboating website.

Dwayne (who has a super Velocity 22) invited Miarka and I for a day of powerboating and we joined him and his brother Curt who just so happens to own one of our former Reefer Racing boats. Seeing that boat brought back so many memories and to drive it again was rather special.

Some pics from a most memorable day.

Yep, same boat only now it's powered by a single Express Racing 572. Cougar converted the boat to a single before Tony Dowley took it to France.

Now it's made its way back home.

How fast.

BTW, FFS don't post those pics on ribnet, you'll get hunted down, tortured, murdered and thrown in a cess-pit for using a boat without a bouyancy aid!

Runs in the mid 70's with the single 700 hp. I think it's 700 hp - we had a number of engines done by Express so no-one is sure exactly which one it is including current owner. With the original twin Volvo 8.2 GSi motors, it topped out at 77 or 78 gps according to the MBY test.

Funny you should mention the lack of bouyancy aids. As I slid down into the driver's' bolster I thought I must have shrunk as it was harder to see over the windscreen than I had remembered. Didn't realise till afterwards that that was the first time I had ever driven that boat without a racing life jacket that must have moved me 2" further forward in the bolster, thus enabling me to see.
