Having read the thread title I clicked on your link with great anticipation, but it was just a couple of guys in a speedboat.

Speed was around 50 knots, certainly no faster, shes a bit grubby... she's always a bit grubby if i'm honest!

Was filmed from a friends Baja which cruised past far too easy

same baja i cruised past in the north beach race

50 knots is way too slow for a ring with a 200

In his defence you didn't really get any further ahead of him until he pulled out of the race... its a very impressive boat!

Its a fair speed I think, the boat had all our wakeboarding gear in and the bottom is far from smooth at the moment... I don't think its any slower then anyone elses 21...

Does every Guernsey related thread have to end in one-upmanship? I gotta admit it's not very encouraging for someone wanting to race on a budget next year... Chief's Baja is pretty far removed from a 2 seat all out raceboat to be fair, as is andy's ring from what I've seen of it.

I have to agree about the conditions though, nothing beats coming back from herm at sunset with no wind, even my mrs said she'd have liked to have been out there as we drove along the front on Sunday night, and she gets terrified in a little bit of chop haha

Return from Herm at sunset is amazing! Sunday was extra good I think, the early tides and dull weather meant there wasn't cruisers kicking there wake out here there and everywhere!

Looked really nice out there. Wish I had not been so lazy, and came out to play.

That does seem to be the trend whenever Guernsey is mentioned!

Don't let it put you off though, we (well, Charlie) raced BRB on a budget and I reckon we had more fun then anyone, without spending too many £££s

How's the RIB coming along anyway? Is the engine going good now?

I'm waiting on some gaskets to arrive so we can get it back together, hopefully we can get a quick seatrial at some point soon to see how it runs under load!

yeah im with you on the one-upmanship thing, i try not to get involved. but i am racing on a budget next year an just in it for the laugh really. hopefully ill raise a few eyebrows an do ok an prove you dont have to spend loads to be competitive.

anyone can set up a raceboat for not much money, an the more people who do, the more fun it will be next year.

Yup! At the end of the day the handicap system we're designing will ensure racing is fair and competetive no matter how much you spend!
Just ignore the one-upmanship, it's more like personal banter as a result of a few things that happened this year, it'll wear off soon! I'm guilty of it too, some of us are a very competitive bunch!!

What's the general gist of the system going to be then? Still the 2l and 4l breaks? You'll soon see that I'm about as competitive as is humanly possible... Haha

Ha ha, glad to hear it!!
Can't really say much on the system at the mo as we haven't confirmed anything. I'd say it'll be along those kinda lines though, I can assure you it'll be as fair as physically possible.
