The word mess doesn't come close , if a build in tank is fitted like it has to be you will never have a problem but when there is no tube underneat the tank so water cant pas underneat the thank and u dont use stainles steel or aluminum that can handel salt water the tank is doomed ......
Today i cleaned the hull and took the tank to make a copy in stainless steel , with the sun on it the hull was dry in notime

actually now I come to think about it. My tank is totally encapsulated.
It has a bulkhead front and rear of the tank which is glassed in each end and the hole in the floor for the pickups etc is sealed with sickaflex.
So I am 100% confident that my tank is not sitting in sea water.

Its a shame you have had so much touble with your 600xs. It was one of the 1st Gav built.

In the Netherlands we call it PUR-foam , this kind of foam is used indoors only for insulation , this because it is not water proof and it keeps water inside its cell-structure .
My new fueltank will be fitted with sikaflex .

It's just 1 single stage foam just out of a can and not the two stage closed cell foam which phantastic is referring to.

Yep thats the kind of foam that was used .

The hole is going to be filled with the same floor part wich will be glassed in place , after that i will put 2 or 3layers of glass over the complete floor , from the front to the back to make sure the floor gets the same stifnes like bevore , after that it will be repainted in orange with black spots like it always was .
I hope the tank will be ready next week so she will be up and running again in 2weeks .
