It was about 2/3 of the way across, so still some distance offshore. Pretty gutting for Simon, once the drive failed they were just passengers.

Passed the cat on the way out of river Hamble. Was obviously relieved that everyone OK, a lucky escape and a sobering reminder of what can happen when things go wrong.

Made an almost fatal mistake in my Formula 353 last year, making a turn at the end of the lake at 70mph, smooth as silk till I hit the 55gallon barrel submurged just under the surface,took out the port drive, sent us both flailing in the water ouch. Took a week to get the underwear out of my butt for sure!!
