Citta' di Gallipoli

Is the port engine missing completely? Was this the result of a collision with the white (skater?) cat in the footage?

14 Accident

Looking through the archives/DVD the boat hooked to the right and dug it`s port sponson in.
Difficult to see if engine came loose, but judging by the tat in the engine bay,it could have,as there is no sign of exhausts, but replaced by the tabs!

Yet another update to our list of the damned CUV cats,Graham.
The Città Di Gallipoli is none other than former Divella of the same year and former BFT in 1994.

In the video from the conversation with the driver Ninì Guacci(who is?) it is understood that the boat was at the time second behind a Victory boat when because of structural failure of a side the cat has made in flying a full circle around the longitudinal axis and then back into the water in perfect position to follow the run ..... the caller then tells the driver that the white Skater have a very similar damage before.

Yes Nigel,as can be seen from the images the boat has totally lost the port engine (Seatek), but the structural failure of one of the sides seems to be no. Damage in fact both sides aft of the cat appear to be due solely to turn on itself.

I think that the short career of that CUV finished in gallipoli in 1995.

Reliable Witness

Film of the incident shows the boat lurch to port as it hooks through 90 degrees to starboard,a mass of spray as it disappears from view, then aft topsides/deck are seen ripped off and floating a few yards from the boat which is facing the opposite way to the direction of the race.
As Jackie Stewart used to say,it`s difficult to imagine the structural carnage in a high speed accident.
