Smile Cowes Torquay Cowes 1973

My first post as a new member (thanks for having me !) and I thought it about time that I begin to scan and share a few of my dad's pics from the past - so, there's now an album of 'the annual noise day' - Cowes - Aug. 1973. on Picasa for anyone who might like to take a trip through the nostalgia of 'that old-time feeling'

https://picasaweb.google.com/1043935...rboatRace1973#

A few other shots that might be of interest can be found at

https://picasaweb.google.com/1043935...AllAboutBoats#

... and as soon as I manage to retrieve the photos I took of the CTC 2010 off my Dell that died a month after the event (and no, I hadn't got around to backing them up !) I will be happy to share those too.
All the best to those of you I know - Hello to those I don't yet
Enjoy
Sam

Great pics Sam,
I was there with the Sheads, staying at my Grandparents house in Birmingham Road, Cowes as a ten year old and remember it well.
Funny to see John Walker in a beanie hat !
All the best, SIMON

These photos have brought back many happy childhood memories for me too Simon, running back and forth to race control to carry the latest news back to whichever beer tent we had based ourselves in, the skies full of helicopters, piles of promo stickers to deface expensive cars with ... ! - fun times, and so amusing to see Marcus' kids living the dream now too.

Glad the old images are being enjoyed

Thanks Sam,

Pure magic !

Don Sheads attention to styling detail and balance of line is so apparent in the late 60s and early 70s , way ahead of its time , still looks right today IMHO.
