Cowling support Brkt's

Dan where did you get the dimensions from to create the bolt positions and height/angle of this brkt?
I would hazard a guess that the start and finish point would be exactly the same as the bracket that Eden (the company you work for) manufacture for Cyco.
Now this would not be a coincidence if they were the same, as the height/angle was created to suit an XR2, a 280 and a 260, powerhead's which I had to hand to create this brkt (hence the height), now I doubt very much that you had this infomation to hand nor the powerheads to check it on.

Still nice to see you doing your own rather than selling some that you had on the shelf for CYCO (yes I have known about that for a while)

Is this to fit the mercury aftermarket Alien cowling?
Where is the second part of the brkt?

Dan whilst I have no problem with you selling you own products I do have a problem with you selling something that I have spent the time to create and draw, please be creative yourself and think of something that Cyco has not already furnished Eden with the drawings of.

Cye,
I can tell you straight that this is different in size, radius`s, angles and apperance to the ones that you manufacture. I am fully aware that you would see this so the last thing I'm going to do is copy yours. Yes, it serves the same purpose as yours along with the many others that you often see for sale espically and S&F.

I have fitted this to my powerhead, and it locates in a different place due to the angle and is visibly different to yours in all areas.

As for knocking stuff out of the shelf from Cyco, this is not the case. If you look back at loads and loads of posts, when people have approached me I have always tried to put them back to you even when I get little or no thanks at all - Cyclone is a perfect example of this when THEY approached me I put them on to you!! Failing that I have always asked for people to supply me drawings to work to.

Finally FYI I drew this at home on Thursday nite on a LANTEK CAD system, took me around 4 hours as the alien face was a little tricky - I even had a conversation with a member on here saying that I was in the process of drawing in while I was speaking to him.

As for being creative, I think that I have been I have never seen a cowl support like this with the Alien face and think that is someway towards being creative.

I'm sorry for the confusion and hope this goes some way to clearing it up.
Dan

Dan thanks for the reply.
Yes I would agree you have been creative, and sounds like you are finally getting an idea of how long things take to draw.
As for getting no thanks...well I think that we both know that is not the case.
Think back to when I rigged your boat!
Lets not get too far off track here, I have seen on a boat with my own eyes one of my cowling support brkt (two piece) which when asked was supplied by you with one of your top pins!

Now I will except that this is your own work but remain with the statement above that you supplied one of my cowling support brkt's to another BM member as your own work.

To give you an idea of how annoying that is, think of passing your drawing that you have just spent 4 hours doing over to your laser operator that is also into boating who then decides to sell these himself and cut you out the deal!!!

Back to the thread yes they look good Dan and I hope they sell.

Best of luck
Cyco

Cye,
I never like Mondays and perhaps you are right and that my comment was un called for, yes you dig rig my boat and I did and still do apprichiate that along with the help you have given me on various questions I posed to you.
I havent and will not copy any of your designs so you have nothing to worry about.
Hopefully we are both clear on this now and can draw a line under it, Cye alot of things you may be able to do and visa versa. If you want to work something out on this front then I'm happy to discuss???????
Thanks for your feedback as well I was quite pleased with how it looked to.

Dan no problem
Just a thought, and this is valuable advise that I don't need to give:
Use a second brkt to support your 'Alien' shape brkt and ensure that it continues all the way up to the top, or the brkt that you have designed will crack on the top bend and someone will loose there cowling.
This is always the first thing that breaks on a standard cowling support brkt.

I am happy to draw a line here and mention it no further.

Cheers
