Cyco's build thread
Well it's been a long long time coming and alot of hard work and late night's to get the hull and deck finished.
But it's done!!!
I will post some pics later today.
Lay-up is Balsa core with with full Kevlar build on hull and deck.
Very large bow and belly tank, foam stringers, Nidaplas floor.
Not wieghed it yet but four of us can pick it up no problem, it is also very stiff.
I have designed and made alot of bespoke parts for this one.
Should be on the water for this weekend / early next week.
Enjoy.

Trailer Design
Trailer is currently being made.
Kept it as low as possible hence the use of stub axles instead of full axles.

Inside of boat
The seat shown is not mine, it will be the same shape but different colors.
kevlar seat shell's have been used.
This shows how big the inside of this boat is, with 2 seats fitted and the center console the driver can still walk around his seat to get in!

What material are the bulkheads? Also foam?
Like the color scheme. Is that blue a ral color?

The bulkheads for the tanks are the same material as the floor: NIDAPLAS.
Very light and very strong.

Thx
Looks quite good. Well I was searching after some composite materials a few months ago. The only thing I could find were sheets of 2c foam. So I bought those. Didnt know but it seems there is a distributer of that product in belgium too.
Maybe I should better buy this stuff. I want to replace the floor in my hst.
So it should be quite ligth and of course the stronger the better.
The downside of that foam is that it is possible that it will suck up water when it gets old. It are closed cells and will be sealed properly but you never know.
What did you use for the transom? Just wood? The stringers are 2c foam I guess?

Cye, how does the hull/deck join work at the stern? it appears to have a gap that increases towards the rear in the pics where it's just been released from the mould. Or did it just require lots of trimming to fit?
And, being nosey, where is the Balsa, how thick is it (and what density) and what laminate schedule is either side of it? (inner & outer)
Tell me to sod off if this info is secret, I won't be offended at all.

Jon the fit in the pic is not good because the flashing had not been cut off the top deck and the transom on this one had been raised by 2".
the deck had not been cut to suit in that pic.
Once the flashing was trimmed back and the mod to the deck to suit the raised transom was done it went together really well.
The balsa is 3/8" 'thk' (ProBalsa Natural) technical info here: http://www.balsasales.co.uk/technical_info.html
The balsa runs along the whole of the hull upto to detail curve line on the sides, and right up to the front of the boat, some was also used to stiffen up the deck in front of the screen so that it could be walked on.
lay-up details I am not 100% sure on but will confirm and let you know.
