It was ok for about the first 10 seconds on the throttle then just started holding back. We all thought it was a fuel restriction problem, but after taking the cowl completely off it ran fine.
I have now cut the two small holes into one and shaped it like a scoop as they normally are. Apparently the ones with the two holes either side normally have a couple of slots in back end of cowl.

They are normally at the back end quite low down about 4" x 0.5"

The join where the top fits the tray is a good fit so it wouldnt draw air that way, do you have the inner cowl on yours to direct the airflow?

Nope have no inner cowl on mine! Its a bobs machine shop one from the states? Think td bought one from there? So standing at the back of the engine you would be able to see them on the top cowl?

I think (but am not 100% sure) that the lower holes are to let water out, not air in.
I also think that the holes on yer original 1 were alot smaller than the genuine ones (with hindsight. )
If yer gonna put the inner liner in, I think the lower holes would become quite important.
