Pegasus
I raced in the back of Pegasus in the Cowes race one year, can't remember which. As I recall the guy who owned it had some sort of aluminium double glazing company. He thought that he could cut a few feet out of the middle and stitch it back together, none of the stringers lined up ! we had some bottels of medical oxygen stowed in the back to blow over the prop to try to get it to cavitate to get on the plane, I had to open the ballvalve at the crucial time, let the engine rev its nuts off, turn off the gas and hope that the prop bit. Very noisy and unpredictable. We retired with a broken something, quite releived as I didn't fancy it in the rough ! Really was a great looking and very revolutionary cat, it was originally designed to have movable sponsons to alter the angle of attack of the tunnel, never got round to perfecting it or sealing the sponson/ tunnel gap.

Hey guys! Greetings from the Republic of California!
I never realized this forum was here, but I do see a number of names that I recongize as contributors to my CUV addiction! This is a great thread and tremendously informative. Thanks!

That's just north of the Conch Republic right?
Black Tornado, Tim B-C, LittleNige and Deuville have either directly or indirectly provided me with a wealth of info on the CUVs, that prior to this year, I was completely ignorant to. Thanks again guys!

The wonder of the internet! Who would have thought that standing at the entrance to the marina at Cowes (Graham and I, Alan and John were religiously waiting for the machinery to arrive. Happy days................) and at various other locations with my trusty camera would decades later prove to be useful towards documenting this wonderful sport - just glad I can contribute something now.

For those who have asked the question re Shead history pre avenger, there have been several pieces written, one in particular 16 pages.A short resume as follows.
Began in 61 CT with a borrowed boat `Blue Marlin`,a 16ft,Fletcher built.Same year raced 14ft Yarecraft powered by 35hp Perkins in Paris 6hr.In 62 raced in Paris again with Wynne designed,Souter built boat.63 had levi design him `Trident` a 19ft,twin 110hp volvo.64 sold `Trident`and gained experience in class E levi hydroplane. He also raced with Mike Beard in `Mongaso`a class III levi in such races as Putney,Southend,Poole,Cowes.65 with John Dalton he drove `Alto Volante`,24ft levi with 800hp interceptor. Also 3rd in Paris in another levi rig.During 66 he campaigned `Delta 28 with Mike Beard winning the Wills Int.Then in 66 he and Mike Beard won Paris 6hr in LeanII,described as a slightly stretched levi delta, but because the volvo was unhomologated was disqualified and Molinari had the victory. When he returned to England,Pacoe Watson encouraged him to produce a fibreglass production version of `Lean II,lengthened to 21ft and thus Aengers were born.
So Blue Mist a nice piece of history sat on your trailer.
