Hactually, when you see how 'snug' and 'secure' the driver is in a rib, such as in the pic I just posted, it's hard to imagine how you could ever fall out of one innit!

Given the rather 'frequent' involuntary dissmounts these days, I can see why you nobbas wear all that survival shite!

It's like tight-rope walking!

If you don't get thrown out, you're sure to have the toob fall orf!

Is that snug enough for you Jon? - Motor boat and yachting seemed to like it anyway!

2.4/ 2.5

Johnny Boat Dude, many thanks for the technical input. Seem to have gone off thread ! I will have a look at the motor tonight- suspect that it's a 2.4 as whilst it is in good nick it's no where near new ! Fired up first turn of the key with 39 PSI of fuel pressure. Looks like it's running a Bosch type in line pump, fuel lines look a little perished so will be changing those. Got to make the back seat face the right way as well ! Can't imagine doing about 60 facing the wrong way ! Still got an intercom of unknown origine (I.E not greytronics), using DIN plugs, presumably some sort of bike one. Rigging suspect in some areas but really good in others. Spent some time at W/E looking at it and condition isn't bad. Bit of vertical play on main steering tube, how do I get that out ? Take off the powerhead, disassemble trunk and shim shaft with washers ? Don't know what the prop is: 4 blade, big hub, no markings except "Ski Prop" cast into side. Got some special Frode props somewhere in the attic to dig out.

Simon,

Did you ever find out the History of your Frode ? did it ever race in 3C in the early 90's ?

The only 21 I can remember was Paul Denfords "The Joker" which lorenzo has now, there also was Jed Smiths Frode but I thought that might have been a 23 but I would not swear on it.

John Hampton raced either a 21 or 23 (Nutcracker) as did Saretta. They might all be the same boat though in various incarnations.

Can I navigate for u again?

Because the last time, 22 years ago?

We raced with the 3d fleet, beat the 3c field, in a 3b boat!

Twas a great boat, shame it calmed down, to let those P25’s get away from us!

Hey Simon I've just purchased a frode 23 (bare hull) not sure why orwhat to do with it, maybe wear it as a hat whilst attempting to race F200.

I think by the look of the lumpy paint it was in Snap-On livery and raced by a fellow called Rob Stewart. Any idea what its history is anybody???

Frodes

Mikael built 2 21's in Sweden that came over here in about 1988/89. Paul Denford had the first one, The Joker, then converted by Lorenzo to inboard power. The other went up North to go ski racing which is the one I have now.
In 1991 I brought over a 23, "Suzy's Frode" which I raced with a variety of navigators: Dredge, Graham Peck and Ian Saunders. We did six races and won five, retired in Torquay due to bad hangovers as it was my stag weekend. This boat was a side by side boat that I sold to Max Walker who converted it to tandem and it never went so well again. If anyone knows where this is I would buy it back ! I think that Sarah Dohanue raced it subsiquently.
Over the winter of 1991 Paul Hicks and I made five boats in a small unit at Bournemouth Airport: John, "I'll sue the arse off you" Miller had one, "Turning Point". Rob Stuart "Snap On". One went up North and Steve Hoare (The Hayloft guy, ex OCR) had one. Can't remember who had the fifth. Unfortunately Paul was skint at the time so he used to turn off the heating at night. I suspect that these boats weren't the strongest as the Northern one blew out the side running a 2.4 and we had loads of tank problems. We also built Frode a terrific 32ft wood and composite 4/6 litre boat painted orange which he raced for a few years.
Numbnuts PM me if you want to sell the one you have. I might come over to see it this week if you are interested. I was going to look at it with Jon Fuller but never got around to it.
Buy the way bumped into Paul Hicks at Monaco Show, he's now working in Dubai.

Woody, that's right, Adrian's name escaped me. I think that it was a turquoise hull ? Having said that it could have been yellow. We did three white ones and the two coloured ones. John Miller's ended up with an ATL bag tank, the rest with ally tanks.
