Talking Finally!!

Well when I came to race at Cowes in August the condition of my engine mounts was found to be somewhat "less than satisfactory", as well as far too much play in my through tube and there was a major rush to carry out an awful bodge so that I could race,
I was passed by the scrutineers and was eventually on the start line,
Naturally I managed to break my boat, and of course it had to be done round the back of the island!
There was the usual "post round the island and fecked me boat" despondancy, which we all know is cured by the usual "post round the island 2-day piss-up",
after the weekend i ripped the boat to pieces so it was a bare hull once again and put the engine in the garage,
i then started to strip it to bring it back upto standard,
however progress was slow due to the many distractions in the life of a 16 yr old and it was looking like it was never going anywhere.
Now, after countless late nights, set-backs and invoices from yamaha which i daren't even attempt to estimate it is in this state... (see pic)
I still need to get the cast-ali electrics bracket welded as the top coil broke off when the powerhead fell through a cheap workmate (which i then discovered to be constructed from MDF!!!!) and need a couple of bits to finish off the finer details, but overall I am very happy!
The thing has been completely in pieces, especially the mid-section/saddle assy!!
it now sports brand new engine mounts, through tube bushes, entire fuel line assy and fuel pump diaphragm, entirely stripped, cleaned and serviced carbs, all newly painted, and im sure many more things i cannot remember!!
I'm dreading the moment i attempt to make it turn over ("turn-over" is probably a better target than "fire-up", "make it run" is out of the question!),
but hey, if it all goes tits-up it's my job to fix these Yamaha thingys right??

Too right Jon!
It's my main aim!!
The state of 1.3ltr offshore isn't looking promising as I can't afford to go national,
also would like to be running a v6 by the summer so wouldn't be competitive in 3C,
are there going to be many this year?

Dunno, obviously the 'Round Britain' is going to get in the way for the early part of the year, but after that you never know. I'm sure there'll be at least one.

excellent,
am going to look at units for rent over here so i can get some glass and body work done on the boat while the weathers still bad and it's dark in the evenings,
either that or persuade mum to let me put up a workshop on the garden

Shoot Adam a PM, he might be able to help you find a barn or something.

Yeh that's looking like the best option, as long as it'll keep the damp off.

That's poor quality control by the manufacturer! Notice how the Solas and Yam stickers are still perfectly affixed!

I'm more concerned about how soon the shelf will fall off the wall, let alone the tin of grease!
I'm waiting for a small threaded plastic insert which sits in the bush housing and allows the outer cover to be screwed on, should arrive tomorrow.

Max
Maybe something like this may do?
Then after you are finished with it you can sell on to me for much cheapness.
