Fletcher restoration

Hello,

I'm restoring my fletcher. New transom, stringers and floor. Than new interior and paint.
Going to install a jackplate and hydraulic steering. I want so get some speed of her. Hoping around 90ish km/h with the right prop.

it's an arrowbeau 170. if you have experience with this boats or tips please share them!!!

Well if you are going to bolt on a Merc bridgeport , you will be passing the 110 kmph mark easely !

The 170 goes like a charm, I would keep as much weight as possible in the back even the tank , for a small wet area.

Looks like you're getting it fixed allright!

When it's new again, plz keep it that way. It's worth it, certainly here in Belgium.

That fletcher will shred 60mph easily with a, yes BP, or something even tougher.

Maybe a 200 would already suffice to get to +60.

Since i'm no expert on Fletcher boats, let the forecasts be done by the pros, here at boatmad uk! What do you guys think of it? Will it stay stable at speeds in excess of 60+?

A 21inch pitch on a 225 johnny rude and 160 arrowstreak runs about 55mph and very stable. If it was proped on a 26inch 4 blade renegade prop it should do 60 ok. I prefer the holeshot for skiing and messing about so normally run a 14.75 x 19 prop

Should get more out off it... Someone i know has a 225 johny and clocked +-110km/h out off it in his fletcher170. I have a jackplate so could easy win 5 mph

I,m running a fletcher 16 with a 200 merc at present and it does over 60mph on the clock trimmed out....bit unstable though even when its flat calm....toying with the idea of a arrowbeau or a phantom & sticking the merc 200 on it,....would,nt expect more than 60mph out of the arrowbeau though...phantom should do 70mph

The boat i,m running at the moment is overpowered with a skiing prop on....fletcher recomend no more than 115hp on this boat... it was set up from new for barefooting i was told

You may get more than 60 out of an arrowbeau depending how you set it up...they are quite a heavy boat & built for pleasure use imho

Keep us posted with your progress...it is an interesting project

My boat is recommended for 150hp. But most owners have 200 or more on the transom. I know its quite heavy but i'm working on that. Hope my weight is lower or the same than before... I'm going to leave all the upholstery out. Just two seats and bench...

Here some Fletcher-Infos , all measured with GPS!

Fletcher 199 with 225 Yam , exactly 70,2 mph without a jackplate!Engine mounted 6 cm higher as standard!

Fletcher 150 Arrowsport wit 115 Yam , exactly 56 mph without jackplate engine mounted as standard height!
It was unstable , of course :-)

so , i really think 70 mph is possible with the 170!

This topic is only 11 years old....

Best speed I got was 98km/h with 2 aboard. Evinrude 140 V4.

I sold it and the new owner putted a 225 optimax on it. I believe it did somewhere around 125km/h.
