You gotta love those frodes!
Id have thought that would be a competitive boat if choppy!

Frode 19
Well that's the boat that I raced for Burnett in about 1996 or so with my wife Suzy as navigator. It did go well but it had two fairly major problems: It was too short for 1.3 L against the batboats at 23ft and it also demanded total commitment. As it was so fine in the bow unles you kept on the throttle at all times it would dig the bow in as it didn't have enough bouyancy forward to recover.
Enc a picture of it on its trailer in all its Vulgar Vulture colours. Probably give someone lots of cheap fun in 1.3L, (me!) but it's not going to be too competitive ...

Hi Pennpromo.
Whats the rail that appears to have been bolted on below the fins?

The rail was a standard Frode fitment that increased the width of the chine rail to aid following sea recovery. Mikael made it from a piece of ally angle about 25mm X 25mm X 4mm, through bolted along the length of the bow. It did help but Pascoe decided that some Buzzi type anti stuff fins were also needed. They helped but as I said you had to be commited. It was also a very very wet boat to run in as it chopped off the tops of any head seas. Definately a wet suit job at all times when rough. John Millar raced it in the round the island onece and lost the motor as he completely knackered the saddle. We ran both Tohatsu and Yamaha,, with and without stand off box, as budget wasn't an issue ! Tohatsu was a bit faster but more fragile. Funniest thing was when we got to Cape Town for the Worlds and lifted the engine cowl to find that no one had re-fitted the powerhead ! Fortunately we ran the spare ...

I remember racing against it in the '95 3B Worlds with Sarah Bellamy as navigator (Lorenzo on here) sister.
It wasn't that quick in the flat either was it?
Frode himself raced a similar hull in 1987 with a Mercury 90, that also failed to shine.

Bugger !
The Frode didn't sell on Ebay...
Temptation is starting to bite, but if I brought it what on earth would I do with it ? I'm far too old to race in 1.3L ? I did think of turning it upside down and hanging it from my kitchen ceiling !!!

Simon, let's face it, you're far too old to run in a Fairy in Historic!
Need to speak to you today, will call in a bit.
Now go and buy that boat! You've been waffling on about it for ages.

Adam, there's probably a few ways of interpreting that last comment !
I actually measured it up last night and I think that we have enough height and lenght for the hull but its too tight with the motor ...
Went to have a look at the boat as well, its actually quite tidy, a shame that my daughter is only 11 ...

Is that your way of telling us you wimped out?
What a massive disapointment. Are you worried you're not up to it? I suppose if Young 'Wishfull' beat you, it could be a bit of an ego crusher.
