Oh yes, haven't heard much from him since the accident, very sad!

What was the outcome from the enquiry?

And here's one for Manos (In his price range)

http://www.boatsandoutboards.com/view/F46527/

It says 'the hull is sound' so at least it'll be an improvement on his foulcoon.

And here's one, which going by the comments re his navigator and boat spec, must be the one in the attached pics! (taken in Poole a couple of years back)

http://www.boatsandoutboards.com/view/F39524/

In the second pic, TD's favourite RYA doctor looks on(yellow top/blue cap), unaware of how close he came to a serious injury of his own (probably facial) back in '97 at the Smallhampton race.

Back in about '97, Nigel Williams (Royal Navy fella) bought a Bonito 30-something footer (my god they were a fugly boat BTW!) with a pair of Evinrudes on to run in the then fairly popular 'Touring class'. Whilst out testing and doing a photo session in the Solent, he had a collision with, and ran over a small-ish Phantom, I believe it was the camera boat, but could be wrong, sadly, one of the fellas in the Phantom was killed. Nigel didn't race the bonito again.

I think these details are correct, Ned may know a bit more.

Painted gearbox

Is there a particular reason the gearbox is painted bright orange on the suzuki? I have had two outboards over the years pained the same way. One of them I know came off a rib that was raced in the UK.

Thanks, Alan

If I remember correctly the year that boat was dragged onto the beach a cat disintegrated as well.

Not sure of the year, maybe the same, we helped an OCR boat back that's deck had almost parted company with the hull.

It wasn't a good day!
