How Honda can let something like this be seen by the general public is beyond me, how long till someone has aserious accident, or is killed can only be a matter of time.

Surely there should be some kind of red card shown to those drivers who obviously feel a need to swap rubrails.

I'm suprised the RYA, or the MAIB haven't put a stop to it!

Honda now have 19 boats in each class, all going around a tight course some of you may have seen ocr those guys get very close, you are going to get close racing with that many boats, but it works

to be honest I really enjoyed the video, it had good entertainment value, however I feel that if that was in New Zealand our Maritime Safety Authority would be having something to say about the number of "bumps".

3min 45 seconds.... See how they nearly run over their competition in the water - several times....

A bit too agressive I think... It is all fun and games till someone looses an eye - as my mother used to say!

quite correct tricky
in the archives, on this forum within the crashes section, at cowes when the boat stuffs it completely, literally folding it, the first boat to come across the crash, sacrifices their race, to sheild and help the crew,
i didnt see any such attempt in the instance metioned above
i agree with that 19 boats, it is going to be close racing, and although not mandatory, bumps are inevitable.
but surely it not in anyones intrest to run the competition over???

International Prevention Of Collision at sea regs form part of all race instructions.

I think that the first time there's a serious injury, or fatality, Honda will pull the plug on the money, walk away, and the fallout will be just another 9 inch nail in the UK Powerboat racing coffin.

Just my humble opinion, but I agree with Hasbeen.

Shelly seems to be one of the few with any common/racing sense, or control over her boat.

It'll all end in tears.

Ho Hum.

Which all proves my point that circuit racing should be on a lake and offshore mean OFFSHORE , only fall out then will be you'll loose 19 boats 9 from each as that will sort the men from the boys!!!
And Shelley will still thrash them all
Mind you a pair of trim tabs on all the 250's will solve a lot of the problems

I seem to recall an RYA rule from the Dredge era (I might even still have the bulletin somewhere) that if two boats collided with or contacted each other, both would be disqualified.

Question

The 225 racing does look good fun, is there any truth in these Honda 225 outboards keep breaking saddles in this class? Does anyone know as i heard this rumour a few weeks ago!
Is it true?

honda/ocr

the comment made about the comparison with ocr.you lot in honda are not in the same league as ocr. i raced for 10 years with ocr 2litre fleet,we had more boats and they were a lot faster. the difference is boats we raced with were more stable and the drivers were more professional

I know the boat I was going to race in Honda last year broke the saddle and didtched the engine in the sea on the start run of the first race. I was glad at that point I did not run with Honda in 2006.
