Howards way

Back in the 80's the BBC aired a "drama" series which focused on boating....

Season 4 and 5 featured powerboat racing I found these screen shots on the net

Yep. Was built in Guernsey where it ran 3B with a Suzy 85.
Was bought by a guy in England called Simon Dufton, he put an XR2 on it, but could only race it in near flat seas, bizarrely he won the London- Ramsgate –London 1984.
Boat was then sold to the BBC (That’s where your licence money goes – on old race boats!)
Can’t remember who set up the stunt, but it was done near Yarmouth IOW.
Nik Keyser helped out with some of the earlier shoots in a Sunseeker.
Great programme, if somewhat “tongue in cheek”, taped it every Sunday night and would then watch it when we got back from a race.
Saw it a couple of years ago and it’s interesting to spot old faces such as John Yeoman, Paul Hicks, Kim Leechman, me!!

my partner worked on it on the stunt side of things, didnt do the water stuff trying to find out who did. Think it was Nick Gillard (star wars etc) who was the stunt corordinator for the boat stuff. Will let you know when I find out

easy Ben, you didnt have to tell me twice

pretty similar looking boat though eh? I was only 7!

its got a lot to answer for that program, I was oblivious to the static acting when i was a wee nipper, but did i ever enjoy all the water action
