the 3m stuff is the best , you need farecla G6 & G3, readily available at any motor factors, an electric polisher is essential for a good result.

i think its 2 compounds called farecla and the numbers are prolly how course of fine they are. so start with the rough stuff and polish with the fine but i know jack about it.

Roger mate, I spoke with Alan who worked with Steve at Sittingbourne some time ago. He told me "you'll never get through the Gel Coat with Rubbing Compound", but I have my doubts!
I have in the past used 1500 grade wet & dry with 'loadsa' water with no detrimental effects, but how long befor the Gel Coat wears out is a problem!
