Torquay hosted the O.R.D.A. Torbay Classic 2015 over the Bank Holiday weekend - disappointingly down on numbers of competitors - 10 boats pulling out a week before the event - no racing on Saturday with just four boats making it out for a few practice laps - one of those - Ananab crewed by Graham Reeder and Martin Foster - did not make it out to race on Sunday leaving the Stanley Gibbons sponsored boat of Ivan Lancaster and Niall Bougourd the only competitor in the 2 litre class. The Priestley family made it a family event with 18 year old Kayleigh, who was awarded the RYA Anne Robinson Best Newcomer Award last year, racing in Class 3A in The A Team A18. Her brother Dan Priestley won the race on Sunday very convincingly in the 24' Ocke Mannerfelt V24 Bat Boat V17 from Brian Peedell a very distant second in the similar boat, Circle Express V13. Kayleigh Priestley was beaten into second place in Class 3A by Yknot! A12 crewed by Kevin Edmondson and Annika Hawthorne. For the few people that lined the outer wall of Torquay harbour, the V24's made it worthwhile with an awesome sound as they passed by heading out across the Bay.
