Phantom 16

A mate of mines just bought this Phantom 16, does anybody have any idea how old it is, and where he could get the right shade of off white gelcoat for the hull.

Oh dear!! It was advertised as a Phantom but it did occur to me that you would all tell me it was a canal boat or something! I haven't looked at it in the fiberglass yet although it does look Ring like from a few angles.

HIN should be printed in the hull on the left of the engine ..

That's not a Phantom, but if it were, the HIN would be on the starboard side of the transom (right hand side looking from behind) just below the rub-rail.
I think this position is/has always been the recognised place for serial/ID numbers, universally, and is definitely the 'regulation' location for them since CE.

That boat does look a little 'Ring-ish' but am not certain.

looks like a plancraft sabre hull you can tell if its got a round to the transom

Hull does look a bit crusader/ Sabre like.

my guess is that its a 'Global' or 'Javlin' or 'Fonda' someone like that from the early 80's
