Pics. from the early 80's

Clearing out the loft today and found pictures I took in the early 1980's. I was a young lad then and can not remember the exact year, hope they are of some interest.

Cool!
Do you have any more of 'Warlord'? that pic would most likely have been taken in 1982 at either Cowes, or Poole, but could have been Cowes '83.

I don't suppose you could email me a higher resolution version of it could you? and any others of it you have.

cheers

Jon

Last ones including some of the race (at a distance).
I found further pictures of the 1985 Brighton pre race procession of boats if anyone out there is interested.

Jon - I'm fairly sure the picture of 'Warlord' was taken at Brighton, but not to sure of the year.
Its the only picture in the set of this boat.
I scanned the picture from the original photograph, I will get back into the loft during the week and see if I still have the negatives. If I can find them you are more than welcome to have as many as copies as you want.

Andy, the boat was brand new at the Brighton race, and didn't yet have the black painted screen, so the picture has to be either Bournemouth/Poole, or the Cowes event of '82, or, the Cowes event of the following year. they were the only events it ever did.

Warlord in '82 at Brighton.

Bournemouth it was then, I was to young to drive and had to pester my father into taking me to see the boats. Managed to get to Brighton several times and Bournemouth but never Cowes.

I've attached some more definitely taken at Poole key and then off the pier at Bournemouth.

Flat calm seas - it was also the 3C / 2 Litre Europeans.
The top photo shows Peter Bloomfield "guest driving" in a Stapley that in the previous year he had driven to a national championship with a young navigator named Neil Holmes.

And this was the best "debut" you have ever seen of an Offshore Racing Boat.

You had to be there!

(I wish I hadn't written that Mr Holmes is a bit bigger than me).
