Pre 1974 at least..after that they started to skimp on the hull thickness.

There was an Issue with the late 80´s Stingers before the 385-415 series with hulls cracking up at the keel. US coast guard surveyed the matter and Stingers we´re banned of production at the time.
Here there´s been issues too and the Raceboat 385 Stinger "Talvisota" got reinforced completely before even hitting water back in it´s heyday, even the CC execs came to take a look what we were up to here.
An older 312 did sink at the Baltic proper here with it´s crew of 3 and I´ve witnessed a few other 312 with stress cracks.
At the 2005 Poker Run in Åland a 312 did crack also but that was because of the driver hopping from Wave to Wave constantly for 2-3 days in a row.
As a Sidenote CC´s 1964-67 37 Constellation and 23 Lancers are one of my fav´s CCs plus the new ones.
Hopefully the build quality on the new CC´s are Top Notch.

Here ya go.

The Stinger/Scorpion 390 came from the Excalibur 39 Hawk.

I believe the first Hawk 39's were built around 81 or. Here's how it looked when Wellcraft marketed it as a '40' in 1985.

Found a very long old thread on OSO which sheds some light on the cat's origins. Seems to be Cougar! Looks a bit similar to TD's old boat.

Also, the thread starts with the history cats in offshore racing
