Top speed was 87 on an iPhone GPS at 93ish on the clock, saw 100 on the clock later that evening when the wind and chop picked up.
Not sure what caused the vid distortion, maybe vibration because it does stop when we back off a little. Thought it might have been temperature deferances, the lens did fog up after about 10 mins of hard running.
You can get anti fog inserts for the case, might email them and ask what the bending is! If it can be stopped but I've seen other boat movies on youtube with a similar distortion. Just not as bad.
Hi Alan - as you know we had one of these cameras (the HD version) until recently (when it ended up being a contribution to Neptune!!). Can you remember what type of mount was used - was it suction, or a proper stuck-down mount (with peel-away tape)?
blimp, it was the suction cup mount we used. but we tied it on with a piece of rope to avoid a repeat of yours!
held solid up to 95 mph which surprised me
Ok, that might explain things a little. The suction cup is going to vibrate a good bit more, especially at speed, than a proper mount.
If you take a look at the sample footage below and go to Formula Car Racing you'll see he's holding a clean picture at, I'm guessing, speeds over 100mph. http://www.goprocamera.com/hdheropreview/
Alan - nope, haven't replaced it just yet (did send them an email recently trying a blag a discount for a replacement, so fingers crossed there!!). The HD one we had contained a kind of slight fish-eye lens (as I think they all do), but there were a number of different settings you could adjust depending on what kind of end result you were looking for.

I mounted mine using the clamp arround the Ski pole put could never seem to tighten the camera to mount bracket screw tight enough to stop it dropping down when the boat landed-even using a screw driver on it so possibley too solid a mount is not the way to go,I used a stick on mount on my helmet but drilled a small hole in the camera case and likewise in a vent on the melmet and put small cable ties to secure it in the event of the stick on pad coming off,so far the stick on mount has stayed put-I hope this helps
Nic, did your footage ever distort like the vid avove?
Just watching the vid again earlier I was thinking, could it be harmonics/ natural frequency?
Seems that it only distorts above about 6k rpm. If you see right at takeoff when the prop blows out it distorts. And as soon as we come off the power on a run it stops, then starts again when we get back in it.
