My Ringcat will do 63 mph with a suzuki DF300 and 61mph with a Verado 300

She is good in the wet for a small cat but very wet

Just make sure that the boat was built by Mike or Tony!

Tony D will remember one day in the nineties when in a chop off Littlehampton My Ringcat 22 / 225 merc with 2 aboard left John Evans Ring 24/ 2x200 mercs standing . I was a passenger in the 24 and it stood no chance in that sea against the cat as it just relentlessly pulled away from a longer boat with twice the HP.
So you see , Speed is relative and had the Ringcat 22 been designed as a fast boat for the calm it would never have made such a good all rounder that it does.

So , My question is , what do you need out in the Solent , something good for Coniston and for bragging in the pub or a boat to cover all conditions where you have to stand and be counted ?

Mike

Mike
i have to agree there,

my father and i had the red ranger with the 6.2 350mag init. we bought it off of colin stoneman who i belive bought it brand new? he also had the yellow one with the v6 which i drove to the IOW in some quite heavy seas.

i have to agree with your theories. in the red ranger we were storming out of littlehampton sea front when there was not another boat in sight, in conditions i would of never of dreamed about going out in any of our smaller boats like the, p21, p23 or r20. fine she only did i would say no more than maybe 58-60 in the flat (or the river lol) , but man in a rough sea nearly with her filling with water was she a great boat! i would say especially in our waters i would always part with 10 or so mph but be able to go out in more conditons.

i remember once on the way down to brighton we were flat out with some others including a honda 130, and we had her completely vertical! a serious brown pants moment! i honestly thought she was going over lol and i broke the passanger bolster seat that day.

apparently the 6.2 gave up the go and she is now fitted with a new motor and is now black and not red?

regards.

'So-an-So' was built by Mike Ring in 1993 and I think it was the second Ringcat 22 built by Ring Powercraft. From that date it only had one owner living all it's life down in sunny Littlehampton and stored in the marina compound.
Never raced or rallied I managed to convince the owner to sell early in 2011.

She had been very well looked after and in very good condition.
The inside trim although nearly 20 years old was still looking good but a little bit dated (Sorry Mike).
The only problem on the outside was the red gel coat had faded to a brownish colour due to the hot L.A. (Little Ampton) sunshine.

Original owner 'Richard' at the helm with 'Mike Ring' in the passenger seat, out in the Solent.

We collected 'So-an-So' in March and moved her back to Mr Ring's manufacturing emporium.

The trailer was on it's last legs. The front end was fine but the back end was totally shot after years of being dunked in L.A. water.

The 'Cat' was then lifted from the trailer and placed on tyres so she could be stripped down.
The old trailer was then put on to a large road worthy trailer and piggy backed to De Graaff trailers at Chobham Surrey. The old one would then be used as a template in order for a new trailer to be built.
