I seem to recall the 'Airtours' logo on his boat at Windermere in 94.

540 c.i. (or thereabouts) Sounds like a 'Bulldog' motor. Is it?

It's the 575hp that Sowester used to take to the London boat show, I bought it about 5 years ago, having been told that it was a dummy show motor. It sat in my workshop waiting for a project, and then it went up to hutchy's for the 24 as seen in the photo.
It was "sold as seen", as we weren't sure it was any good, and Steve pulled the sump to check it had bits in it, he said that it looked like it had just been built, and has run ever since!
If I had known I'd have charged more for it!!!!!!

Yeh, that makes sense. Mike was Peter's navigator.
Don't know if this is true or not but I heard that Peter died from a heart attack as he was stepping out of his boat after a race. I imagine it's the way a lot of powerboat racers would wish to go.

Sort of a shame Mercury Racing stopped building that one. Nice reliable horsepower.

every boat on boats and outboard claims to be able to do 70mph! Some people on there are off their tits with the figures they claim!

I would have thought 77 mph was a bit pessimistic.
Jon and TD ran over 79 at Windermere with about 450 shp (I think) in a 26.
The 575 should produce about 540-545 at the prop with a Bravo and the 24 should weigh less than the 26.
