Guy's, I sense a little tension in this thread.

Perhaps, (for the sake of the reputation of Boatmad) all talk relating to the Round Britain event could be discussed on the appropriate web site in future?

Bluefin, are you really the beetle browed, knuckle dragging idiot that you come across as? You and Turnip like to wind people up and then back off when push comes to shove. Typical of spineless dickheads of which the world is full off. I would be very surprised if anyone from the RB race team ever posts on here again and I wouldn’t blame them if they didn’t and that would bloody well serve you right. It will be Boatmad’s loss not theirs. From what I have seen here they are wrong if they don’t answer questions and they are wrong if they do. I think the Round Britain Race is the biggest thing to hit the Offshore Powerboat Scene for decades and all you guys can do is crap on it. Well done, I hope you are pleased with yourselves, idiots.

Can I suggest that you guys read whats written and not assume
At no point did I slag him off or set him up for it (Fabio or anybody else for that matter). 100% racer that is on the money. However he will call things the way he sees it and quite freely express his opinion. That in my book is a good thing, need more like it.
This is an open forum where anything within certain bounds is OK and open to discussion and or comment.
Anybody can have an opinion that is different to yours it what makes the world go round. I don’t have a problem with you or your opinion of me as a knuckle dragging Neanderthal that’s fine I only asked a question which was unclear to me for clarification. Guess we wont get on to good thats fine too, we will both go through life none the worse for it. JFYI Im not spineless Thank you for your constructive thoughts and comments I will work on improving my character flaws so they become acceptable to you

Edit: Sorry Tony..... Good Morning..................

Lifes to short get it back on track,

Boyracer, I dont know you from Adam, so i shall not make any assumptions about your character.

Bluefin, not sure what you have said or done to upset these people? Come to think of it, im not sure what i have said either?

Perhaps some people should not take themselves too seriously, after all its vulgar and not at all English. Id like to think id be the last one to take myself serious, but with perhaps one exception, Chaos. (No offence meant Captain).

The Round Britain 2008 will indeed be a great spectacle and the efforts of those responsible for making it happen should be acknowledged and applauded (you know who you are). But we all know that that is not the real reason that they are doing this, its not for the adulation or hero worshipping! Its for their own sense of achievement and personal satisfaction that they are undertaking this challenge, or at least thats how i understand it. I am sure that i am not alone on this forum in wishing them every success.

I do not believe that anyone is going out of their way to snipe from the sidelines, but that people are genuinely unsure of the Class rules relating to this event, and dont forget it is the responsibility of the participants to ensure that they comply with the Class Rules to ensure that their time and money is not wasted.

lets also not forget a very basic English personality trait, "he who puts his head above the parapet, is likely to get shot at".

Nope, it was never OK, and was always a typo in transcription from my entry form by the RB8 crew. This has been corrected by the RB8 team and now correctly reflects the actual engine I have had built, which is a capacity of 6202 or 6.2 litres, which is below the 6.5 allowed in the class.

see: http://www.roundbritainrace.co.uk/entrants.htm

Discussions about what the UIM would allow was just that - discussions about what the UIM allow. Bit of taking the piss for the sake of taking the piss.

The capacity limits for each class in the RB8 is set, and allowances in tolerances by the UIM for their homologated engines are irrelevant. We are not running an homologated UIM engine we are running a totally custom built engine that happens to be based on the 6 litre series 3 block. We can do a lot more to the engine cc wise, stroke and bore it, but then it would not be as reliable, so by adding slightly different high performance parts which alters the CC capacity of the 6.0 to 6.202 increases reliability and performance to the level I want from the engine, and still gives me a 300cc margin of error for the measurement that will take place at the end of the RB8. ( I am told the winner will have their engine stripped and checked for capacity! )

It wasn't a swipe at you in the slightest, i was just trying to make sense of the engine reqs.

Thats interesting the limits then, as they seem to make twin outboards fairly uncompetitive in RB4 class.

I think a pair of Merc 2.5 XS's on a P28 or similar could be very competitive indeed.

70+ and very capable/fuel efficient/reliable.

Tony,
I was looking back through this thread. Noticed the number as shown in the impression is stylised and the incorrect colour. I know it’s not the final impression and things change and I’m sure you have already picked up on it and made a note to yourself for the finished item. Wouldn’t like to see it get painted up then have to change it later.
