Wow, so you've got a boat and a sponsor but you're not going to race it yourself? That is a serious commitment to the event!

Basically it means that you have to get from A -> B each leg with the highest average speed but it must be under the limit as with p1 you cannot go above a certain average speed (several teams have been dq'ed for this, well thats what i think it means anyway.

This whole thing about highest maximum speed will always be a contensious issue.

Not to make every event a procesion, but also not taking winners off the podium to dq them.

I am old enough to remember what motor racing (cars & boats) was like through the 60's and 70's when everything just got faster and faster with the inevital outcome. Some of the biggest names in racing died during this time, and it ended with motor sport vertually shutting down and TV companies frightened to show people killing themselves on Saturday afternoon veiwing.

Modern safety nowadays is far superior and its difficult to get it right so that it stays as safe as possible yet also still exiting racing. Personnaly if the RB committee are bringing in these safety issues this will make the event one to remember for all the very best reasons.

Pleasure Navigation- is not a race, pleasure navigation fastest boat gets DQ\'d if a speed is exceeded Both the above posts are quite correct in summary & conclusion to my post. Not wishing to detract from the value of the RB8

The Round Britain rules have been published, and unless I've missed something there is no mention of top speed limitation.

What makes anyone think that the race is being run under P1 rules?

??? Untill reading these posts, I was not thinking that was the case, but after reading these posts, I am confused.

I was sure that RB8 was not a P1 race, or a race with limits on top speed, as I seem to remember an initial posting saying that P1 boats could enter, and they did not have to worry about the speed restrictions....

Ive seen more action in the local Funeral Parlour.
