That boat is 20000 $ & considering the hassles of the CE, duties & transport I'd look at the Norcat 22. Its awaiting CE approval & is 20000 euros + vat from Norway.

I agree the Sportcat-Norcat is a better option, but there some good deals to be had in the US at the moment.
If its a race boat then CE dont apply (i love loopholes).

What are your intentions for it pleasure / race, inshore offshore

Would like to race it but what class would it fit in? probably rig it with one or two 300 promaxs.

Boat is $28k fully rigged on trailer, norcat looks expensive by comparison.

I see a 21' Skater on the web somewhere recently rigged with 2* 2.5's seemed a decent price , bugger if I can remember where at the moment.
Well if it's racing you dont need to worry about CE or is it RCD they dont make it easy.
A section or topic on CE & RCD would be a good Idea Boat Mad boatbuilds (Tony)

Bring it in as what ever you like, the customs and excise are only interested in your money, it's the trading standards that are in charge of CE!

I don't think that's the case, he can bring it in as what ever he likes coz the Customs don't care, if they did then half the Bayliners and other Amercian stuff wouldn't be allowed in either! What he does with it afterwards is up to him, although you could get a 20+ foot cat CE'd for around £1,500 as a one off, or less if you made a habit of it!

It's all bull s**t anyway, as you could build the boat yourself, and it would only need to be CE'd if you intended to sell it within 7 years, after that you can do what you like with it.

The local (to me) Bayliner dealer tried to get the customs to stop some grey import boats from entering the country, but were told that it was not their problem, as the importer wasn't breaking any laws in bringing them in, only if they were sold on! He was obviously intending to do that, but he could say that he was importing them to break for spares, exportingthem out of the common market, possibly to the Channel Islands, or 101 other excuses.

They also complained to the local trading standards office, and was told that they didn't know that such a rule applied to boats!

Thinking about it a little IMHO a 21 Skater is a little light for costal work, most in the US are used on lakes, Those that are used offshore only hang around a short while before the owners up grade to something bigger. A 24 is far more suitable for twin set up and more useable

Did Mike not buy & rename Guernsey Skater?

So there are two Skater 21s around these parts (one possibly still in the CIs)
