I am not so impressed with Skaters. Considering the amount of hp they need for speed some v-hulls are just as efficient and much better looking (actually looks like a boat). Catamarans just don't do it for me.

Well thats not true u wil need 300hp on a v-bottem en 200hp on a skater for the same speed. If i drive with my skater on the trailer people speaking john look that boat its awesome even my friends say it.. When i got a phantom or other v-bottem no one look to it or even talks about when im driving true the town
The fuel effici of a skater is 30% less fuel then a v-boat
Even when im at the boat launch people come to me asking me everything about the boat they love it they even help me with launching the boat to the water. Well that never happend with my v-bottems.

So a 200hp Skater 21 would run with an Allison SS-2000 or a Hydrostream Venom with a 300 and be 30% more efficient?

Thats not really comparing apples with apples is it! On a glass flat lake maybe, but bring either of those boats out into the bay and the cat would beat them with a 50hp!
I love pad V's, but they have theyre place and its not in open water!

No objections there, what I meant was that there are v-bottoms that will outrun a Skater 21 inshore.

That is the disclaimer on the Allison Boats website - they don't want lawsuites. Most Allisons SS-2000 run Merc 2.5 and quite a few with a lot of horsepower (260, 280, 300 and more).
Can a moderator please erase my posts in this thread. I just wanted to make a case that Skater 21's don't outrun all v-bottoms but I also don't want to piss in the Skater thread.

Is that why Velocity Powerboats perform so badly in their class in the states?

Ok Pad V runabouts, again not apples with apples is it! Velocity, progression, superboats are all verry capable boats. But size for size and HP for HP not going to run with a cat!
We really dont need to start a cat V monohull debate here..
Wow, winters definitely here isnt it!
