Regards Ian

"1972 I think, we lied our way into Class4 with a purple 16 droop snoot called Shaft, fitted with a short shaft 100. I stuffed it on the first race"

Sandwich if I remember, flashbacks of drying the plugs out to restart the motor, - was that really 72 -fek fek fek, Was the day Billy Match broke "Chelsea Bill" on it's first outing replaced it with "Apollo" & Dick Ridout did the same with his Stapley-Trimmelet" "Custard Beast" ex Tarantula another first outing with the boat.
That werent a good day to be making a Debut I fink loads of damage done that day.

"and barrel rolling it at Brighton in the flat calm"
It did look impressive I'm sure I counted @ least 3 rolls, What ever caused it coz the 21' was pretty predicable

Had a long chat with Steve last night re: Ian Rowsell, the spill at Brighton had Dick Ridout as nav, he was a little hurt I think. Knowing Dick in later years, it's hard to imagine him in a wee 21, those who know him'll know what I mean!

Well he was flying that day in the 19' at Sanwich till the thing broke, to be honest he was pushing hard perhaps to much so. pulling the thing up the beach nearly turned my a-hole inside out. He ran in class IV before that even smaller boat.
