My thought when i saw what had happened, would it be possible to have something like a dive lift bag to put under the foredeck of a hardboat deflated on a air cartridge as life jackets have, using the water tablet, so if something like this happens you dont lose the boat.

Why not just put the "huge inflatable sausages " right round the boat?

We used to use old tractor innertubes tied under the front deck and car tubes stuffed under the back if was really rough, some boats in 3c in the 80's did similar that way at least if it was swamped you could get it towed back if the worst happened but now I have turned to the dark side of the force

I did wonder what happened to it, I do remember seeing it after you had it repaired and thought that a good repair had been mad after quite a major blowout. It was a rough old race that day you and Phantom Phanny coming in holed.

Where could we get one of these MrJF?
Hmm...shouldnt the bow hold the air, thus keeping it afloat?

Yep used to race 1.3L with Splitpin - Graham Atlee on here. That day we managed to burn out the bush on the prop just coming up towards the start line so we had to retire before starting, then limped back to RMYC and then worked as recovery and rescue to all you guys who were coming in damaged.

I know JF thinks the idea of Buzzi's STAB rib style of boat just ruins the look of a nice hard boat but I kinda like the idea and have wondered how it would look on smaller boats like a ring 25/26 for instance dare not mention Phantom...a kinda hard boat with built in buoyancy and stabilisers when at rest

WE could do a great job on a 33 footer I know of. I can sneak in and borrow the hull for a splash, and we could put half length tubes on it. It would look excellent IMO!!
