I thought it would take longer than that before someone recognised it.

Just happened to be in Italy and thought I would knock on his door. We spent a great hour and half going round the factory and looking at his boats.

His passion for the sport is still as strong today as it has been over the last 50 years.

So I will let you work it out for yourself.

The answer is there.

Remember he builds boats for a living and they need to be competative.

Mine too. An Icon in this sport. How many can say they have achieved so much over such a long time.

I remember reading articles in all the boat mags years ago regarding his boats, his racing and also how passionate he was about safety.

You are absolutely correct, Mr Buzzi is a really nice guy. I had the good fortune to spend a couple of days with him back in 1992 working for the MoD. He was trying to sell boats, engines and drives so we got the full tour of FB Design, the Seatek factory and some of his workshops.

The kit he had in there was amazing, but what impressed me most was his attitude towards having the best. If a part wasn't available he would either design it himself or at the very least create a spec and commission someone else to build it. He took us out to lunch at the far end of Lake Como (in a white FB38 driven by him and a young Gianfranco [Zanoni?]) and everything on the boat was as designed (or spec'd) by him, the Seateks, the Trimax drives, the bolster seats, right down to the race helmets, oh, and the hull of course!

And to think I gave up that job for a promotion at work??
