Maybe we can have a race, or start a new class?

Always on for a race - could be a lot of fun and could just catch on....
What length will your cat be?

Its 3.7 meters long and 1.7 meters wide. I have done a 3d model of it in Rhino, that I used to make all the cutting templates for the model, planning to use the same approach to design the tooling for the first full scale cat.
It would be good fun good to do this, and to start a new affordable racing class would fantastic! Need to find some more time…
What engine size did you have in mind for your cat?

The first version (Feline 3.5) mostly had 25hp engines and from memory ran about 35mph and were good fun at that.
The newer version of boat maybe slightly bigger - but hopefully a little more efficient and probably simialr weight so performance will not be wildly different. However the boat will be a bit more stable and I might look at 25 to 30hp - possibly higher if the engine was light enough.
Would certainly make for a good class!

Where does time go....
My version is slowly progressing - hull plug is nearly complete. Just finishing off (primers etc) required before taking off a mould.
But really just a fun project and work has to come first! Fortunately very busy and some really interesting design work going through but has not allowed much time on the Feline project!
Anyway, hull is now 4.1m with a beam of 1.7m

We built and tested a prototype/testboat this summer, tested it with on old Yamaha 20hp and old Tohatsu 40….
Really pleased the performance results and the high-speed handling. Good fun to drive...
Ran really sweet with two of us and responded well to trim.…we will pursue this project later but at the moment we are all committed to other jobs/projects...hopefully we will be able to commit some time to build the moulds this winter..will keep you posted…

KAR-Marine -video
The KAR - marine car runs sweetly with a 60hp 2 stroke…
Still looks like the driver is always leaning in towards the middle of the boat though…

I had 40 yam on a cougar cub, dont think it would handle any bigger.
Great fun though.
Adam
Are these moulds the ones you had in the top shed about 7 years ago?
I do remember seeing them and thinking mmm, could maybe do something with them.

Looking at around 50hp - and will be very quick for it's size at that. Will work with anything from 25hp upwards. Weight wise the 50 / 60 hp engines are about as far as you can go.
No plans to go into production at the moment though - although once I have developed the first boat may look at selling on the moulds / production rights if there is a market there. Easy enough to build / market as a race boat - but it doies become more of a problem as a leisure boat and meeting rcd regulations etc - it certainly would not meet them with 50hp!
Hopefully I will find some time to progress things a bit over Xmas. The hull plug could be got ready for a mould to be taken in a week - if I had a spare week!

Hi boat freaks
Nice to see that it´s more boatmads besides me who likes mini catamarans
and boatdesign.
The KAR-Marine RC 4,3 is not a splash of anything I can asure you all.
It is my design, I built it and I produce it and it´s me driving it in the videos at youtube.
I also own the molds and rights to GoCat 430 wich is an old Gozzi design from Norway.
Hello Scand! I looked at the Berserk C12 and it looks very nice and i look forward to more pictures an most of all some videos of the tests, I am a bit puzzled about the hull design thou and wonder how it handle waves with that trimaranhull, Please post som more pics and some videos, go for it, I like it.
