Delta 28

Some time back maybe 2/3 years a picture was posted of Don Shead's/ Gardner Bros DELTA 28 NOW CONVERTED with attractive cabin! I have tried every possible way to track that pic down but cannot. Anyone out there have it or know where she is now? last thought to be in Med area.

Thanks
Mike

Just had a look on www.apolloduck.co.uk - there is a Levi delta hull on there for sale - not sure of location though - converted to a cruiser. Hydrosonic Special?

The photo of the cabin cruiser is not the Delta 28.

That was a prototype designed by Erbil Serter and built by Souters.

She was quite a bit bigger - as seen from the engines. I believe she was broken up eventually.

Delta 31

Are you sure Adam? that hull is definately Levi and has the same prow as experimented with by the Gardeners when Sonny was working on the ram principles..I can't see Sonny allowing someone else to claim that design?

When it says built 1980 I think they mean Souters converted the old Delta 31 which was now 40ft with the ram extension to cabin spec

For sure that is not a Levi - I used to work at Souters - a bit later, but the Serter boat was well documented there.

Actually the hull looks very different in other images.

I will see if I can find any links to it.

Erbil Serter was / is an interesting guy and I went on to work with him in the 90's on another prototype.

cannot find anything quickly. Used to be quite a bit on-line about Erbil - but only a few references come up on Google now.

He was more interested in the commercial markets - and involved in various patrol boat projects. Also had various patents and was in a long pursuit of the French Military I think. Other interesting things he worked on included the design of a Blue Riband Atlantic Challenger for Richard Noble. Was in the press at the time - but of course did not get built.

Interesting guy to work for as he was part Swiss / part Turkish.

The boat with the cabin - was an open boat at some point too. It had a designation of S6 or S7. Bigger than it looked and with 4 Ford Sabres.

Not to say that it didn't happen - but saw no records at all of a Souter cabin conversion to Delta 28.
