150 to 225 promax

Is it possible to convert a 150 promax to a 225,most of the parts look the same apart from the ecu and heads ?

Maybe a little but they will have different front halves 225 being a 7 petal motor and the 150 would most likley be a 5 petal. I'm sure the fuel curves in the ECU would accomindate the more HP..I have never built a 150 but built tons of 225 and 200 PM motors. They are great as long as you heed the side pin piston failures.. Top pin the pistons and use the aluminum incompased con rod bearing and chunk the nylons ones and its a great piece....

i recon your engine is up round 200hp already as most P20's with xr2 were running low 70's

i was thinking the same about yours Burty im very happy with it.

I spoke to race marine and they said it is blue printed ,dressed ,it has a lightened flywheel but was wondering weather I could put a 225 e c u on it as I have heard you can , gazza gave me some 225 heads which look as if they have been skimmed compared to the 150 heads so was hoping to squeeze a little more out of the engine if it was possible , i.e. put 225 heads , e c u and change the timing

Hi lloyde, seems we're running almost the identical package. Last year we changed engine from 1st gen XR2 to 2,5 150 super magnum (promax) which was a very positive experience ! We will stick to our original 150 super mag which is very reliable and very powerful compared to the hp and compared to the XR2. Have not run a dyno but will later just for the curiosity. We are easily running low 70's.
best regards
Miss Coco
