2.5 280 Ros

A quick word of advice for anybody with a 280 ROS with the new type Motorola ECM. While it may appear to be a sealed unit it isn't and is extremely expensive to replace if it goes swimming. Pull the 3 plugs and you will see a pin is missing out of the 3 connectors in the ECM. I would suggest sealing those 3 holes carefully with silicone sealant. If anybody ever has one that sounds like a portable swimming pool I will post a picture of where to CAREFULLY drill drain holes so it can be drained, filled with WD40 and oven roasted like new.

Suggest a non silicone mastic as apparrently electronics are allergic to the acetic acid used to cure silicone.

Oops did you use a non-silicone based sealant or do I need to order a new ECU now?

Some ovens have a warmer draw - 40 degrees. Other more advanced models have a merangue setting - 45 degrees.

Do not use the microwave setting...

So if you use a bit of care and a modicum of common sense you can save a few quid. Still got to try it running but it's amazing when you consider it's been completely submerged in sea water. Sorry the pictures are so bad but the DDT reads static test pass (Relieved Paul ?) and the measurements are 4.4 mm and 13mm with the 0mm on the edge of the silver plate.
