2.5 280 to 200XS Alien cowling

So I ended up getting my grubby paws on a 2.5xs, now that I've relieved the powerhead from the 3L junk that was under it and placed it on my 1pc 280 adapter I've already ran into a problem. I thought the 200xs is under an alien so it'll be no problem to use the alien cowl I already have.

Nope. They must be different. My question is how much different? From what I can tell, the SS base plate sits the cowling farther back. How much? Is the bottom cowl actually different? (besides the holes and grommets for compressor discharge and cooling water) Is the top cowl different? I know the skirt is completely different and I'm already looking for one.

Thanks!

Hi Jim,
Yes the bottom plate is different like you say, moving the cowl farther back.
Is it a genuine cowl or GRP? Is there a liner in the cowl?

If there is a liner, remove or remove parts of it.
Otherwise it pretty much a straight fit.
The cowls are no different, nor are the lower cowls.

Thanks Alan. I have the OEM plastic bottom cowl and was planning on a HNR carbon top. Looking at the wingplate steering however I think I'll need to cut the pan up to make it fit.

Still a few other options I'm looking at but not sure which way I'll go.
