Everything else being equal, about 550 would be my guess.

Does anyone know what the Merc 600 boosts at? they were a 502 base, and would have been thought out fairly well, so would be a good guide as to where you'd be at.
I was going to suggest 600, but I think Matt is probably right on the money.

Cool, cheers for the info guys... I was guessing somewhere between 550 -600hp. Really do need to figure something out for my drive then, especially if i'm gonna be racing her! Speed should be good though, she was racing at 74ish with 425hp
I'm hoping for anywhere in the 80's, doubt i'd be able to do much more than that safely in our conditions, i just need my drive to survive more than 3 mins!

Quicker than it used to be then. We reckoned it just about did 70 when it was racing in T class.

Probably about right, I had issues at the last race so the best i saw was 61, couldn't get above 4200 revs.
Any hazard of a guess as to what speed i might be seeing with the extra gee gees?
Is there anything i can do without spending house deposit levels of money to create a drive that'll take the power without breaking all the time?
Cheers, James

Yes mate I've got a good idea as you struggled to overtake the start boat which was on three quater throttle .Reckon you were doing about 45mph as I had to throttle back to let you pass ,you were last to the first buoy tucked behind Hugh with the 115 Yam.
With the turbo on you should go faster about 50 I reckon !

Recommend a browse of http://www.go-fast.com/boat_speed_predictions.htm
Type in what you know (important bit is hp and real speed), (weight is arbitrary as long as it stays the same) to get a performance index, then adjust the hp or speed to calculate the other.

Have you considered how annoying its going to be to jet the carb for the charger or is it already set up?

Yep, i was struggling to keep 45 for a bit coming in, then sat at 52 for the one lap i did. I'd had to guess prop and ended up on a 23 pitch, stuck at 4200 revs, with no oil pressure and a nasty rattle, hence I pulled out!
Next year will be different, trust me! I'm happy for your speed estimate to be used to calculate my handicap though, kev thought i was going to be doing 80 for some reason when he decided i had to do 3 laps extra!!

Already set up mate, and compared to the masses of other work i'm doing to rennovate the boat and build a low compression engine, i think i can manage to jet a carb without too much hassle!

Matt - Thanks for that link, based on her old setup, doing 70, she should do 83. Based on speed from the 330 i had, it rekons 82, so pretty constant.
Should be a nice target to aim for, I'd be happy with that speed.
