Unhappy Advice Needed Please On My XR2

i know its not the same engine but my old yam 85 had a knackered head gasket and would rev okay in neutral but not under load in gear when warm it would just bog down.. might be worth checking compression?

.....

The behavior you are describing here sounds like a typical bad trigger plate...

Engine fine in neutral, but bogs when under load....
