Burty, Did we see you guys pulling out of services on the M5 near Weston Super Mare, a few weeks ago, after Lyme Bay. White boat looked similar to one in your pic?

So why does Tony Brucatto tell me to put them in 2 & 5 when he cleans and flows my injectors?

Its according to what motor and what fuel system is involved ( Bosch or Kiehan injectors )... I will tell whom ever cares to listen and heed the warning 90% of all motors I see with smoked pistons are mostly number 6 by FAR. Then next frequent is number 5...
I build 2-3 of these high performance engines a week and that is what I see day in and day out.

Makes no difference, the theory is that the hot exhaust runs down past the lower cylinders & heats them up.
From Tony Brucato
Hi Ross,
Hotter EGT reading are usually on the port bank, only because the bottom cylinder is closer to the EGT probe. Nothing to do with cylinder temp.
5&6 run the Hottest, then 3&4, 1&2 need the least fuel.
Tony

Maybe! Thats what I was thinking.
But saying that, nearly all of the melted pistons Ive had were no 2. And not just merc, my yam 130 leaned out and guess which piston melted?
I have had both 5 & 6 go, but that was from jacking far too high and running out of water! Even still, it was 5 that melted, but the rod popped into 6 to say hello!
Im going to stick with merc on this one and keep putting them in 2 & 5. Until I learn the hard way I guess!
