AHHHH! I got a hole in my boat!

smaller than a 5p coin but 3 cracks running from it.
What to do? Just patch up the back and fill the front?

about 3ft from the bow. I cant see how its happend. it must of been a side impact as it not a glancing blow.

it cant be a stone because it crazed around it almost like its been hit with something and its broken through+crazed around it where the gel has flexed on impact.

do you stow an anchor, or any other heavy, pointed object 'up front'?

It looks like a glancing blow in your picture. You can see a gouge mark heading rearwards (I'm assuming that it's the STBD side) parallel to the stripes on the hull.

Maybe caught it on a gatepost when trailing it?

Has there been any terrorist activity reported in your area recently? It could have been a stray bullet from police marksmen tracking down a Brazilian who had over stayed his welcome?

Its not a glancing blow its more of a stab wound! That gouge mark is where I scraped the loose bits away to under the full damage. I think it maybe the result of the yard owners moving trailers around and they have dinged it with the corner of one.
Should not be too hard to fix though.

Can you get to the back (inside) of the damage easily?

If so, I guess you need to laminate 3 or 4 layers of mat about a foot square over the back of the hole & when it's cured sand out the frontside right back through the damage.

Depending how much mat you remove you then need to fill with gel (+ possibly some mat 1st).

Masking tape over the gel so that it cures (gel is air-inhibited) & then sand to shape.

(Gav will now tell us all how to do it properly!)
