Alpha 1 Gaiter

Hi,

The exhaust gaiter has come off my Alpha 1 leg on the drive end, after spending hours I still can't get this thing back on!

Does anyone have any tips on how to get this back on?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

How old is it? when they get older, they stiffen up, and are less easy to work with, it may be easier to fit a new one.

I had been told it had been changed in June, it seems to be in good condition but is stiff.

I think i'll get a new one and see if it goes on any easier, not really something I want coming off.

Is there a best way to fit it? Boat end first or drive end first?

To be honest, it's a while since i've done one, but my instict tells me to fit the gimble (boat) end first, then lower the trim and it should line up/push on pretty easily, really shouldn't be a struggle. The drive shaft bellows is harder.

At the end of the day, if it comes off, no harm will be done, where as, if the drive shaft bellows comes off, or gets punctured, you wind up with an expensive bill!
