Coyotes raced with some success in the States in the late 70s and 80s.

So far as I know, they did a 34 and 38. Hull design was by Jean Claude Simon, who is probably better known as the Cary and Cobra designer. He was also the designer of the Chris Craft 312 Stinger and 311 Scorpion.

The Coyote moulds were sold by Simon to Sonic Powerboats.

Looks like a boat that I used to race against in APBA Prostock class during 1983, John Carbonel was the driver and it was called "the Galleon" yes it was a Coyote designed by Jean Claude Simon, but thought length was 34ft with triple 2.4 Merc's. Do remember hearing of it being washed up in Cornwall many years ago, boat was sold to people in the Florida import trade, one of the trips went wrong.

I'm a bit confused (easily done).

Where was the the boat supposed to be going when it ended up in Cornwall?

I think I have a photo of 'The Galleon' somewhere. The name seems familiar.

Errr, oh yea.

Actually, it's quite liberating having passed the torch to the new oracle of all American offshore powerboats.

Now you have the great pleasure of trying to find the photo.

It's there somewhere, you know it is. It is a great responsibility Master Matt but the force is strong in you.

Think I know the particular article you mean - god only knows which one issue it's in though. Must be hot boat or powerboat, at a guess.

You mean you haven't indexed them and stored all the info in a database by now? Shame on you, Mr Yorke!

There was a black and white photo of it in motorboat and yachting and powerboat and waterskiing.

I think Adam tried to buy it!

Actually found a "Much" nicer project closer to home

after seeing a 34 up close fookin huge ! after my binliner

a 28' tullio a***** by the name of ********

so now what i'm asking is - how much ( guesstimate ) would two engines (diesels) and a couple of drives cost me ?.... ( mebbe someone is selling some) .... I know it deserves a couple of "big petrols" but i dont want to re-re-re-re-re morgage (weekly)

I have been told it was origionally fitted with twin BMW engines (doubtful... looks like "merc" mountings to me) ...& BMW drives ???? .. Did they make outdrives? and if so would this mean i have two big holes in my transom that are gonna cost me 20G to fill ?

P.S. 71mph would be good ( Jonny)

BMW was a common engine in an Abbatte, infact you had to pay a premium over Mercruiser! Hard to find parts for the drive now, although there is a company that specialises in them.

£20-£30k would buy you a couple of nice diesel packages, but at those prices your better off looking for a boat thats a runner!

It was a one off build, the mould was destroyed afterwards. some millionaire tried racing it and when all the cats wooped his arse he sold it. the was used drug running and dumped weighted down to sink however was washed up at Falmouth and became coastguard salvage and been sitting over Manc for a few years. apparrently the deck is cracked and some large chips and scrapes on the hull but otherwise generally one piece. believe the fuel tanks still left in it but thats about it.
