Set up

Try taking the boat to someone that acutaully knows how to set up a P20.
Sounds like a weight distribution issue to me.
Weight needs to be located as far towrds the back of the boat as possible and all pumps etc to be mounted on the drivers side rear.

A chopper prop on a P20 is not a good idea for any thing less then an expert driver, you are just wasting your time with them.
Prop technology has moved on since the chopper came out, sure it's still a fast prop but the are faster props out there without the handling problems of the chopper.

Try an ET lightning worked very well on my P20, not the cheapest prop in the world but fast and easy to drive with.
Look for something around the 22", try S&F for a second hand one.
Small hub laser 11 is also a good prop to start with fast and also easy to handling don't get this mixed up with the large hub lasers which are 19,21,23,25,27" ect the small hubs are 20,22,24".
You don't need to fight a P20 it should drive fine without tabs in flat water.

Actually, I think the boat you are talking about is a P21, to the best of my knowledge, there's no such boat as a P20 tandem deck.

the 20 and 21 are quite different.

I think Mr Chaos hit the nail on the head, a small fast boat takes some driving!

Jon P20 tandem doesn't have to mean a race deck which I guess your thinking of.
Could just be a tandem set-up.
Still 75mph is achivable with a light weight set-up but as stated this will take some driving.
My old P20 did 73.9mph with an XR2 me driving, this was quite an achivement for me as I had not long flipped the boat and was very nervous about driving.
This was a Nick Barsh motor fully ported to my own port heights (not OCR legal) was a bit gutted that I never tried the motor with the correct jets was running 0.94" at the time.
Then sold the boat complete without changing them.
When I first bought my P20 I was told that it was one of the fastest and best set-up boats on the curcuit
First time I drove it I realised that was a load of crap, it used to chime walk really badly at around 60mph and it would bite you in the arse every time you took your foot out of the throttle, fecking thing.
Learnt alot about setting up P20 tho!!

No, i'm sure the boat in question is Scottyboy's P21.

Here's the thread that I think Silversurfer is refering to:

http://www.boatmadforum.co.uk/showth...9899#post39899

I think Silversurfer just got his models a little confused.

I'm aware of tandem layouts in regular deck boats.

PS. I think it's 'Chine Walking', as in 'Chine', not 'Chimes' as in ding-dong.

Unless i've got it totaly wrong and it was dancing to the music

I dont know if this is any further help. But my fletcher really likes to get a wobble on since the engine was lifted a couple of holes.

I always found the secret was to try and make early compensation and thus not let momentum build in the 'walk'. I'd love to think I got rather good at keeping the boat quite flat & stable. Truth is, i was probably just lucky & wingin' it most of the time.

how quick are you going?

At a guess, i'd think 70 would be the very best you could get with your set up, probably upper 60's would be more realistic.

Yeah, that's true, you said you had a fwd fuel tank, that'll be a speed killer when it got fuel in it!
