Battery

What battery is recomended to use on a Mariner 200hp? I know you cant really use car batteries due to the constant pounding of the boat in the water which will damage a car battery, and Marine batteries are rated by (CCA) cold cranking amps rather than AH as a car battery is. And have better deep cycle capabilities.

dunno on a 200 but my 280 is 350 CCA. I use a decent car batt with no problems. when not in use it's connected up to an Optimate charger. hope that helps

What capacity is the motor, what equipment is fitted? that info would help. To be honest in most of the boats I've fitted out (mainly RIBs ) went with about an 85AH sealed or gel type battery. Larger if they had a lot of extra equipment. Basic boat with engine: standard car battery will be fine I would think.
