"Bobbins"
Does anyone know there the "bobbins" used to mount screens (like used on pascoe's orange V24 apparently) are sourced from (apart from Mark, that is)?
Was just planning to use button head ss bolts and captive or domed nuts inside - but apparently these are much nicer.

I 'think' that the bobbins were made for Mark by Jules at Team KPM Racing, but could be wrong.
try Jules, if no joy, I'll give Mark a call if you like.

I see a flaw in the design of the structure and any screen mount failure looks secondary.
What do you recommend instead & why?

Firstly where does the current crack propargate from?
Most of the screens used are cold moulded or shaped from flat sheets and simply drilled with little or no thought to stress relif from the drilling process. a little on the thin side with no thought given to mataining the maximium strength.
Impact resistance varies greatly with the temp. That isn't controlled so the screen will suffer failure much soon on colder days than warmer days.No thought given to the effects of thermal shock on the screen with a rapid immersion
Can waffle on about it but when you are next round drop a pm or give me a bell & I run through it with a diagram in greater detail.
Bit about aircraft windows here
The number 3 window is a typical all Acryllic construction type

Matt, its a safe bet that Pascoe will have a few spares lying around although they may be an assortment of colours........... its probably quicker to have them off of him & get them re-annodised to whatever colour you wish.
Its likely that Jules would have made a 'run' of those at the time the 24's were all being done & as such he'll have to do a re-run which could take a while.

Matt hope u dont mind had a look at ya pussy today and the mont on yours seems fine . I'd be tempted to sit it on some thin rubber or PRC1444. and use a hefty ali stip on the screen to bolt down on to spread any loading. Drill slightly undersize and ream to final dia slow with a fluid.
fgkk it looks quick. seems looking at itthough will be quite sensative to trim inputs Neil will be the best to have a chat with on it if you havent spoken already enjoy.............................

Dont know if you have an immersion light installed but if not & you want one the old Mercury switch off a 175 would do the job a treat for the switching, should be quite a few about the graveyard.

Cheers for that - some useful stuff. I think they do the external panel washers. What also need are the internal combo washer/nut assemblies - which I guess at the KPM specials.
