it actually made the boat faster in the right conditions but only because on flat days i could jack the motor right up (about 1 1/2 " above the bottom) and go like stink, however if it was choppy then water up front was required to get it to fly level to offset the extra weight further back plus handling was affected

was it bad to handel ,little loose in steering feeling or softer with less reaction compared without a lift ?, or did the boat make here own movements to left or right at max lift in flat.
i thougt about one to, but my concern is .. it would be harder to lift the bow up to get more speed gains on a vhull phantom because of the longer lever arm.
or do i am wrong , normaly longer arm (easyer to lift) but in boats its different ? the boat is longer with added setback and makes more weight to lift ?
we have to ask a pro :-) Burty.....cyco....
on hydros or little cats it would be great i would say, they do not need so much bow lift to get air.

This sounds interesting!
How much speed gain were you seeing in the flat Burty. and was the handling
un controlable in the rough?
im running a 2.4 Efi and seein high 60`s would be nice to see it up in the seventys.

with the lifter less trim had more effect as you have more leverage to get the bow out of the water, mine never suffered from chine walking so that wasnt an issue. s i said in the flat it was fine but when the boat starts jumping around then it was slower to react to steering movements and i found harder to control but then i was trying to travel as smoothly as possible at around 80mph so as not to lose Cyco. On my P20 running with the bullet about 1/2" below the bottom 8" of setback was worth approx 3mph, couldn't run any higher than that whilst racing as the rooster tail was so big we couldn't see the skier. Without a skier and jacked right up we could do just about 90mph (2.5EFI approx 340hp) but hutchy has been 10mph quicker than that!!!! dont know what engine height / lifter he was running though.
Frank, you should be up in the low 70's with a 2.4EFI most P20's with xr2's are in the low 70's and you should have more torque than them, if you got a bullet box try it about an 1" below and mounted in the centre, check your bushes and steering for play and see how you get on.

Porting, different ecu map, L&B the whole rotating assembly, etc.
Something like this:

JSRE actually built Burty's powerhead.

Burty, running 2.4 efi with bullet box seen 70 on gps once in the flat. maybe il try jackin it up a hole or 2. motor is slightly off centre, but has always been this way. need to hav a play around when this wind over here drops. if all else fails il hav to look into a 2.5 from jay. maybe this old 2.4 is getting tired. cheers for the help
