Bravo steering play

Hi I have a Bravo 3 it seems very loose with lots of play.
When out the water you can move the leg abot 6-8 inches.
Is there any adjustments or what / how can I do to remove the play in the steering ? any advice ?

You can do it with the engine in. You have to buy a merc kit,
You drill two holes in the T plate and you can get to the top nut,
From outside the boat. Then you re plug the holes with a plastic cap that are threaded in. We then put a light skim of filler over the top and repaint looks good as new.

Done loads

Cheers

...And the hole is usually still worn too as Tony said, especially if there's 6" of play!!

Yes it a pig of job your right there, but if done well you can't see its been done.
On service you should nip up the gimbal ring bolts.

iv seen the warn part of the square in the gimbal ring be welded up and the re-milled to fit a new steering pin.

We do yamaha one in 11m ribcrafts with no cutting about 2 hours work start to finish and saves the engine out work. as they crack gimbals like any thing.
