bungee on saddle

Curious how you lot attach the bungees on an outboard? Do they still allow some trim/tilt?

Having watched youtube video of the evinrude etec, its scary how much it kicks......

I used the holes in the saddle where the limiting bolt thing goes in. An M12 stainless lifting eye on each side for the bungee to go through, and it's nicely in line with the bottom of the leg. I can still get the full trim range, never use the tilt personally. I'm bloody glad I did it cos when my saddle snapped the bungee saved the motor from going under!

This is a twin 200HO running the Aussie offshore series. Has bungee's attached, after this they went to solid mounts to try and combat the amount of movement.

Turn your lower mounting bolts so they're facing out if theyre not already. Then put some SS ye nuts on and tie the bungees to them. You might need to put a shackle on them, depending on how many wraps you pull around.

You will always have trim, no matter how tight you pull them. The tighter the better. I pull them tight, untill the steering starts to get heavy.

Just an after thought, make sure the bolts in your transom are metric thread, and not rigging bolts with a funny thread on them.

ok. Sounds like a easy job if it saves a saddle. how many wraps of bungee and how tight would you recommend??

I've got about 15-20 loops at a guess? As for tension, pretty much at full stretch when fully trimmed out. It didn't stop my saddle snapping, but it saved the trim ram from getting knackered and stopped the powerhead getting wet when it did snap!
